LAMAYURU TO STOK

"It takes 2 and half hours to drive from Leh to Lamayuru (115 km) visit the Lamayuru monastery which is built on a hill right above the village - cross the Prinkti La pass, walk down through the valley to Shilla. Our journey will continue with a vehicle meeting us in Shilla. The only access to Hinju today is via road travel. So rather than walking on the road, just drive to Hinju and free one day."
Day 2: Hinju (3785m) to Sumda Chenmo (4222m) via Kongski La (4950m).
Time: 8-9 hrs

"After crossing the Zanskar River, the trek begins from Skaya village, winding through a narrow valley flanked by towering vertical rock faces. The trail gradually ascends, following the contours of the rugged hills. As you climb higher, the valley opens slightly, leading to the small and remote village of Shinggo. Here, only two families call this place home, making it a quiet and peaceful stop along the journey. Just before reaching the village, a welcoming tea stall set up in a parachute tent offers a perfect spot to rest and enjoy a cup of tea, cold drinks and your pack lunch."
Day 5: Shinggo (4150m) to Rumbak (3951m) via Ganda La (4980m).
Time: 6-8 hrs

"A long day to cross the Ganda La. On the way you will see marmots and eagles. Beautiful panoramic view of the Zanskar and Stok ranges from the pass. Reaching the pass, you're rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the Zanskar and Stok ranges. For those with the energy, it's possible to hike another 20m higher, reaching 5000m for an even grander perspective. On the descent, before Rumbak village, there's a refreshing water crossing—perfect for cooling your feet after the long trek."
Day 6: Rumbak (3951m) to Stok (3600m) via Stok La (4850m).
Time: 7-8 hrs

Drive: 20m
"It's good to start early to cross the Stok La, the path gets steeper as you get closer to the pass you can enjoy the view of stok kangri from the pass."
