About the Guide

Born and raised in Ladakh, my journey into the mountains began at a young age. As a child, I spent several years in Taiwan studying Zen Buddhism. When I returned to Ladakh, I struggled with school due to language barriers—classes were taught in three different languages, and at first, I had even forgotten how to speak my own mother tongue. But one thing remained clear: I always dreamed of climbing high mountains.

At 18, I took a bold step and found my way to Siachen Glacier, Saltoro Kangri, one of the highest battlefields in the world, reaching an altitude of around 7,300m. I worked there for seven months with the Indian Army, gaining invaluable experience in extreme high-altitude conditions.

After returning to my village, I began working as a trekking guide for a friend's travel agency and later collaborated with different companies until 2014. Since then, I have been focusing on running my farm stay and working as a freelance mountain guide.

With years of experience in Ladakh’s rugged terrain, I now lead treks on less-traveled routes like Likir La, offering a unique experience to those who seek adventure beyond the usual tourist trails. Whether it’s sharing stories over a cup of tea or guiding trekkers through the Himalayas, I am always excited to connect with people who share a love for the mountain. Julley ! thank you.

"To make your trek more enjoyable, we arrange a car to skip road sections longer than 5 km. This saves time and energy, giving you more opportunity to acclimatize or enjoy shopping on the last day. For a comfortable acclimatization stay before your trek, we recommend Old Likir Farmstay, where you can relax and experience traditional Ladakhi hospitality."
